Grand Teton National Park was certainly on the must-see list.
I had heard so much about the Grand Tetons and surrounding areas that it was finally time to go see it for myself.
The crisp air of fall meant it was time to experience the Grand Tetons in its full display of colors.
Off I went to Wyoming, visiting one gem after another, and I hope you enjoy viewing these scenes as much as I did expoloring every inch of them.
I stood in one spot for over an hour, just waiting for the perfect moment. As a Double-crested Cormorant glided to center stage in the water, another flew overhead. This is at Oxbow Bend, definitely my favorite location in the area.
If you have visited the park (Jackson Hole) before, you might have scene these gigantic decorative arches made by weaving naturally shed elk antlers around a steel frame and securing them with gravity, friction, and screws. They are quite a sight to see. The antlers are collected annually by the local Boy Scouts and Rotary Club from the National Elk Refuge during the spring, after the elk naturally shed their antlers in late winter. It involves painstakingly placing each antler, which can weigh between 5 and 10 pounds, to form a gigantic arch. You can learn more about this fascinating tradition.
My last morning shooting Grand Teton National Park took me to Taggert Lake. It certainly did not disappoint. As I trekked around the lake, it seemed as though one scene was better than the last. See what I mean by exploring even more pictures of Taggert Lake.
If you've seen pictures of Grand Teton National Park, there's little doubt you've seen the famous Mormon Row. While it is a more popular spot in the morning, I decided to switch it up and catch the early evening golden light and it paid off.
Have you seen the famous picture of the Snake River taken by Ansel Adams? That specific picture is not possible to take anymore because the trees have grown so tall and they obscure the view of the river. So when I saw this scene I smiled as it reminded me of that famous picture.
While beautiful in any season, I highly recommend visiting Grand Teton National Park in the fall to experience the amazing scenes encrusted with vibrant colors! I can't wait to go back some day!
