After outfitting offices, hospitals, clinics, television sets, banks, hotels, and all the random spaces you could ever imagine, I was thrilled to be part of a special project for a golf course clubhouse—Cutalong at Tributer Resort, located in Mineral, Virginia.

This clubhouse project called for some colorful and vibrant nature artwork to contrast with the warm wood finishes throughout the space.  Additionally, the juxtaposition of the rustic finishings had modern highlights, so we decided to use mostly metal and acrylic materials for the artwork to really pop.

Three Grouped Acrylic Artworks on Wood Wall
The main focal wall features three strategically grouped artworks that remind the patrons of their outdoor surroundings.

The float mounts on the acrylic artworks give the sense that they are levitating, and the surrounding lights enhance the effect.
Overview of Clubhouse Space
The main space dazzles with lights and the 4-panel acrylic adds a distinctive modern design element.
Golf Clubhouse Art Design
The juxtaposition of vintage golf clubs and modern design gives the eyes a visual surprise.
The four panels are arranged to give maximum design impact. This one is called OVERTONE.

Other REEF properties were featured on this focal wall.

Aside from the original artworks, it was my privilege to honor the history of the mines that were once part of the surrounding land, so we found some old photos to feature around the clubhouse.  Most of the images needed to be restored so they could be fully appreciated.  After many hours of refinement and artistic enhancements, I finalized the historic images so they could be part of the important story in the clubhouse.

Extreme Photo Restoration
This was a tiny gem from 1904. The extreme enlargement of over 1000% called for some careful polishing.
Three Photos Restored
Another gold nugget was found and enlarged. Careful mending of all three images created one large artwork.
Detail of Antique Photo
The antique photo was carefully restored and enlarged. The degradation of the image is disguised by subtle painterly effects to make it look more like a painting. The charm of the antique color is maintained. Fortunately, the artwork was a big hit.
Stairwell landing artwork
The landing in the stairwell was begging for something special.
Vintage Photo Becomes Art
A treasured vintage photo was found and restored.

This stands as one of my absolute favorite projects, and it was my pleasure to help present this special clubhouse to the public and all of its future patrons.  Our work paid off and was recognized by Golf Inc. Magazine as third place best design receiving a Golden Fork Award in the food and beverage category.

A special thanks to my new-found amazing friend AnnMarie for giving me this opportunity!  We make a great team!  Apparently the judges agree!
