I am quite a nerd.

That's an odd way to start a blog post, Kyle.

When I was a kid, I would check out the encyclopedia from the school library that had every single species of fish known to man.  Since I thought I had better record them (I didn't have a copier), I would rewrite every species of fish (both the scientific name and the common name.)  I was especially fascinated with the vibrant patterns displayed by tropical fish.

I would write:

Lagoon Triggerfish
Rhinecanthus aculeatus

There are a lot of fish in the sea.  Literally.

It took me a long time, and no, I never finished.  The encyclopedia was pretty thick.

I got to thinking about this because I am now able to see these creatures in real life, and not just on a page in a book.  Seeing tropical fish has me feeling like a kid every time.
There's an entire world beneath us, and in this particular image, I wanted to bring the worlds together to show how close this world is to us.

And it also makes me smile with kid-like fascination.

Underwater Fish by Stairs
The stairs invited me to the world beneath us.
