You’re looking at what started it all.

I call it PARTY.  Because it started the Franklin Arts party.
I had a Canon Elf digital camera and I had no idea what I was doing.  I was making mistakes and formulating happy accidents.

Since I did not understand the camera modes or any other aspect of photography, I just started shooting vivid lights against dark backgrounds. I shot hundreds and then thousands.  Hours went by.

After this creative storm in December of 2007, I remember thinking about putting this in an art show and seeing if there was an audience for it.  After gaining acceptance into my first juried art festival, I couldn’t sleep that night because I was terribly excited about selling something I created.  That creative storm changed everything.

The artwork that changed it all sits front and center in my studio gallery.

The bizarre part about my artistic journey is that it started opposite of most.  I began with abstract, and have since then moved on to include more traditional landscape photography.  Now I do both and mix them up and I have a hard time defining what my art is sometimes.  It makes for a particularly difficult answer when people ask me what kind of art I create.  I kind of like the fact that it is hard to explain.

PARTY will have a special place in my heart.  It defines the very beginning of my artistic journey.  It reflects the explosive creative energy and vibrance I felt the very moment I made it.  It marks the start of the party.

What did you create recently that gave you that feeling?  Is that feeling trying to tell you something?
