Blindfold a photographer and then unveil an amazing colorful sunset and see what happens next.

I'm sure I could beat Usain Bolt in a race to get my camera.  (Like the Olympic reference there?)

Skies can add powerful drama to a picture, if not be a picture all by itself.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures that feature beautiful, brilliant, powerful skies.

The painted skies rests above the wheat field in the breeze.
I had to take a detour while witnessing this from the road.
The sun punctuates the patterned sky and shapes below.
This was a unique moment where a tiny slit of horizon focused all of the setting sunlight on the clouds.
The smooth, soft texture and color makes this picture come alive.
This sunset is one I will always remember.
I encountered this sunset in November of 2007. It's probably the most amazing sunset I've ever seen since my photography obsession.
A forming thunderstorm created all kinds of unique formations and colors in the sky.
I was captivated by the way these clouds interacted with the sun, making for a strange muted color palette in the sky.
A strong storm takes form in the distance while the sun sets.
