So what do you do?

We all get this question a lot, don't we?

My answer used to be simple.  Now, I always struggle to answer it.

I'm an artist, but there's more strategy involved after its creation.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love making art.
It's only part of the equation of what I'm trying to offer to my clients, though.

I am also a designer, but I would never say "interior designer."
I focus primarily on selecting the perfect artwork for the proper wall inside the space.
I don't really design entire spaces, just walls.

I'm a photographer.  Kind of.
I carry a camera.  I do take (lots of) pictures.
I consider the camera to be my primary artistic tool, but I use many gadgets and software to help me create compelling artwork for walls.

So what kind of art do you create?

Every artwork starts as a photograph.

Some artworks I create are purely photographs.

It's hard to please my imagination and demand for a dramatic compelling moment.  It happens more rarely than I would like.

Some artworks I create are several photographs blended together.

Sometimes I blend multiple exposures or different scenes and elements to create a new one

(in photo speak: exposure blending, high-dynamic range (HDR), focus stacking, compositing, and undefinable things)

Some artworks I create are more like digital paintings.

These photographs undergo heavy enhancements and are augmented and transformed through digital post processing.

Here's my credo:

The only rule for my art is there are no rules.  I simply keep creating until I feel the work is done to convey what is intended.

I am driven to design the perfect distinctive custom artwork for your style, space, and taste.

Telling people this at a cocktail isn't exactly easy.

When someone asks what I do, now I just tell them to read this page ;-)
