We all have our little quirks in our personalities that create some unique challenges.  Maybe you can relate to mine, and it may not come as a surprise.

I obsess with capturing the moment.  What's the harm in it?  Well, this is flawed because I used the word "capturing."  Not "living in" or "feeling" the moment.  Sure, there are disjointed remnants of those things, but my compulsion with photography can sometimes intrude.  Thoughts of utter despair can enter my brain when I realize I don't have my camera during that amazing sunset rather than just sitting there and taking it in.

I often dream (literally) of amazing scenes and my camera is nowhere to be found, or if it happens to be in my hands, the battery is dead or there's no memory card.  When it's in my hands and it works, I can't get to a place or angle to capture the scene.  Boo-hoo, these are some of Kyle's nightmares.  Goodness, they are annoying though and quite common.

Fortunately, all is not lost with this quirk of mine.  I'm sure the same is true for yours.  I can't tell you what I ate yesterday, but I can tell you the year, month, and sometimes even date of when one of my favorite pictures was taken.  While there's a chance the moment was not felt fully, I am reminded of the beauty in it, and I remember it vividly like it was yesterday.

I feel these obsessive photographic moments serve as strong anchors, milestones, or "memory points" in my life.  It reminds me that they come quickly and life is a series of fleeting moments.

My choice is to capture every moment I can so I never have to let it go.

I guess as long as we can see the positive things stemming from our quirks that sometimes get in our own way, we can do our best to make some pretty tasty lemonade.

So ask yourself, what quirk of yours must you keep in check, yet might be able to still capitalize on?
